Welcome to middle school!
Your child will be in my math class for the 2019-20 school year. Your child will have homework weekly that will be due on Thursdays. Most of our learning will be gained within the classroom, however there will be some extended opportunities to apply what is learned in class to independent work at home. Grading: Please sign up for Infinite Campus parent portal in order to check your child’s grades so you can help hold them accountable for their success in school. Students will be given formative assessment grades and summative assessment grades. If you notice a zero in the grade book or a “missing” note, please talk to your child about this. Instruction and Student Work: Students will use Google Classroom (GC) to turn in various assignments. GC will be useful in cases where students are absent but are able to work from outside the classroom. Other websites we will use are www.IXL.com, https://play.prodigygame.com, www.Deltamath.com, www.khanacademy.org, and flipgrid.com Assessments: Students will be assessed daily. Students will earn at least one grade per week. If there is a grade below 80% they will complete an error analysis sheet to correct their mistakes. Retake opportunities will be provided to earn a higher grade once the necessary remediation is complete. Students MUST complete a task prior to being reassessed on a math standard. Behavior: Your child will be held accountable for all choices made and actions taken during school hours. Good choices lead to rewards and privileges, and poor choices can result in a warning, strike, citation, or a corrective action form. Each citation results in a phone call home in order to communicate the details. Students will be responsible for taking the citation home to talk to you about their choices, get your signature, and return it to school the next day. Positive behavior choices are rewarded with good character, positive referrals, reward celebrations, and verbal praise. Lesson Plans: Please check my website www.nwisdom.weebly.com for current lesson plans for the week. This can be found under the “Staff Directory” tab on Hebron Middle School’s web page. Also, as a general pacing guide (subject to change), click on my calendar to access an outline of our Kentucky Academic Standards. Please feel free to contact me at any time by emailing me at [email protected] and I will get back with you within 24 hours. If it is urgent, please call the school at 869-4200. I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your child! Thank you in advance for trusting Hebron Middle School to educate your child on academic knowledge and life skills to be successful. With love, Ms. Wisdom |
